To Our Community:

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the Institute at the Golden Gate's premier signature program, Turning the Tide on April 2-3, 2009.  We are honored that you joined us at the newest national park lodge by the international landmark of the Golden Gate Bridge to help turn the tide in changing the course for our earth.

This prominent event brought together scientists, CEOs, philanthropists, youth activists, venture capitalists, nonprofit leaders and social entrepreneurs. At the event, we spotlighted risk takers and their bold actions, featured interviews of influential thought leaders and their views of the possible and forged new connections among the many individuals dedicated to a sustainable future for our planet.

Turning the Tide was designed around the four principles central to our young Institute. Our goals are:

• to connect environmental leaders, thinkers, and achievers;
• to collaborate among sectors and across disciplines;
• to inspire collective approaches to individual action, and;
• to act on behalf of their environment by catalyzing people and institutions.
