Baseball - The Presidio
Baseball - The Presidio

Play ball! By the late 19th century, baseball was a national obsession, and like many young Americans, the Presidio's off-duty soldiers fielded their own teams, usually organized by company. They competed with one another as well as local amateur clubs and teams from other posts, including Fort Baker and Fort Barry in the Marin Headlands. After 1937, some of the games had a dramatic backdrop: the Golden Gate Bridge.
