In collaboration with the For-Site Foundation, the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy is publishing the exhibition catalog for @Large: Ai Weiwei on Alcatraz. The 112-page softcover book, edited by David Spalding and designed by Vivian Young, includes a preface by Frank Dean, General Superintendent of Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and Greg Moore, President and CEO of the Parks Conservancy; an introduction by For-Site Executive Director and exhibit curator Cheryl Haines; an in-depth look at Ai Weiwei’s life and influences by award-winning scholar Maya Kóvskaya, PhD; and a statement from the artist.

Illustrated with photos of installation pieces taken at Ai Weiwei’s Beijing studio as well as of some of his earlier works, this handsome catalog also includes images of Alcatraz and a timeline that takes the reader through the infamous island’s long, rich history, beginning in 1850 and concluding with the exhibit in 2014.
